Primarily designed to iteratively develop expertise on these matters, members of the research group aim to share and disseminate their work to complement legal and social discourses and, where identifiable and necessary, actualize societal change therein. We aim to contribute to international, national and regional debates on these matters, address traditional and novel legal problems with a varied toolbox of methods, and, where appropriate, based on developed expertise, propose nuanced policy-recommendations and context-specific legal advice.<\/p>\n<p>Big data, IoT, AI and the respective legal interferences of their implementation and use in society form the core subject of our research, but we have also focused on legal implications of the Gig-economy, competition law and data governance issues in Smart Cities, digital evidence, online dispute resolution and LegalTech. Also research on HCI and HCI research methods, mixed research methodology, international business transactions international mediation forms an essential part of our competencies.<\/p>\n<p>The research group incorporates elements of the Value-Sensitive Design framework into discussions on societally acceptable, inclusive, human-centric and thus innovative governance mechanisms in private legal relationships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge Transfer &amp; Collaboration Services:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TalTech Law School and the TalTech Legal Lab collaborate with public sector institutions, companies, NGOs, and international partners to translate legal knowledge into practical solutions. All activities are delivered in collaboration with partners and aligned with institutional priorities and resource availability.<br \/>\n1. Executive Education &amp; Capacity Building<br \/>\nWe provide modular education formats designed to strengthen institutional legal and regulatory capabilities (Custom trainings and executive briefings, Professional certificate courses, etc)<br \/>\n2. Collaborative Research &amp; Knowledge Production<br \/>\nWe engage in joint research and innovation activities that generate actionable legal and policy insights (Joint applications to EU, international, and national funding programmes; Regulatory research and analytical studies; Compliance benchmarking and industry mapping; Legal and policy monitoring exercises (project-based))<br \/>\n3. Co-Creation of Soft Law &amp; Governance Instruments<br \/>\nTalTech Law School supports partners in the development of practical governance frameworks and soft law tools (Industry codes of practice; Model contractual clauses; Ethical and AI governance guidelines; Compliance frameworks and playbooks).<br \/>\nOur role includes legal research, design, structuring, and usability enhancement of governance instruments.<br \/>\n4. Regulatory Experimentation &amp; Legal Innovation<br \/>\nWe facilitate practice-based experimentation environments where legal and regulatory solutions can be explored and tested.<br \/>\nTalTech Law School provides legal analysis, design methodologies, and research support within controlled experimentation settings.<br \/>\n5. Experimential Workshops &amp; Innovation Sprints<br \/>\nWe organize hands-on co-creation workshops engaging students, researchers, and partner institutions (Legal design workshops; Hackathons and ideathons; Legal tech tool testing with student users)<br \/>\n6. Behavioural &amp; Usability Testing<br \/>\nThrough interdisciplinary collaboration within TalTech, we support behavioural and user-experience testing of legal and regulatory materials. Capabilities include: Eye-tracking studies; Comprehension testing of contracts and disclosures<br \/>\n7. Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue Platforms<br \/>\nWe convene structured forums that enable knowledge exchange and collaborative agenda-setting across sectors.
